What is the Texas State Militia?
Texas State Militia is an independent network of Reserve Militia units throughout Texas that all have chosen to follow a common set of bylaws. These bylaws allow each unit to be operated by its commander with few restraints, while ensuring the unit avoids radicalization.
Pursuant to Texas Government Code Chapter 431 and the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution, Texas State Militia (TSM) is sworn to preserve the life, liberty and property of all law-abiding citizens through the preparation, training and support of a lawful citizens’ group. To aid in the defense of liberty, the well-regulated TSM shall train citizens to uphold our natural and inalienable rights and defend the United States Constitution and the Constitution of Texas against all enemies, foreign or domestic.

Texas State Militia is an organization dedicated to serving the public good. Through defense, rescue, and volunteerism, we supply individuals with the skills to support themselves and their communities. We encourage communities to be self-reliant and ready to defend their constitutional rights.

The very heart of the militia is the concept of community readiness. This is seen every day in different volunteer organizations across the world. It is a force that is quick to react to calamity, disaster, or attack in defense of its local community. Logistics take time, but helping hands are right across the street.

OUR MISSION
To service our communities and the State of Texas. Whether that be through defense of life liberty or property, support of law enforcement, or volunteerism within our communities, we believe We The People are our best resource. As an organization, we provide support and educational services for our local communities and municipalities. Some services include conducting classes, lectures, practical applications, and workshops in the fields of:
- Emergency Medical Training
- Search and Rescue
- Disaster Preparation and Recovery
- Self Defense (armed and unarmed)
- Neighborhood watch organization
- Emergency radio Communication
- Wilderness survival/first aid
- Community Serice
Should i join?
The Texas State Militia is a network of units made up of responsible, conscientious Texans. Each militia man and woman has a measured, moral character. We are not a religious organization, but do adhere to the Judeo-Christian morals and ethical codes of equal treatment among genders, races, religions, and abilities.
If you wish to protect and serve your fellow Texans, and you believe that “all men are created equal”, you belong.
If you believe the US Constitution and its limitations on government are the best way to protect our natural freedoms, you belong.
If you ever wanted to join the military or law enforcement but were not able to due to life, family, or medical reasons, you belong.
If you previously served the US military and are looking for a brotherhood again, you belong. (current US military service members may not join due to US restrictions)
If you are a law enforcement officer and are looking for a group of citizens who respect you and your oath, you belong.
If you are a Texan who wants a support network because you fear a coming collapse or drastic change in our American way of life, you belong.

Requirements:
- Must be 21 or older to apply. If a parent is a member, 18 is allowed.
- Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check. In some cases, a License to Carry issued by the State of Texas will suffice in lieu of a background check. This can greatly speed up the application process.
- Former military service members are welcomed and encouraged.
- Current and former law enforcement officers are both welcomed and encouraged.
- You must legally own a rifle.
- Character requirements:
- Each individual will be personally interviewed.
- We do not accept racists, bigots, sexists or any sort of marginalization of individuals based on their physical traits.
- Applicants must display a dedication to supporting and defending our constitutional freedoms.
- Drug use is explicitly prohibited.
- Possession of illegal weapons is prohibited.
- Physical Requirements
- You are responsible for your own physical fitness.
- We accept members of all ages over 18 and physical capabilities.
